Rockford city alderman could pass a proposed budget that includes various tax hikes.
At Monday night's city council meeting, the budget will be introduced. It includes a five percent telephone tax, a five percent water tax, and a garbage fee increase of $24.
All of which will help to ease the city's seven $7.5 million budget deficit.
23 News spoke to some alderman and they say they are expecting the vote to be laid over. That is normal operating procedure. Most bills and budget documents are read in and tabled for at least one week so the aldermen get a chance to study the issue prior to a vote.
