Deere and Company says it will close two plants, cut back production at a third and lay off about 300 employees at part of a streamlining in its commercial and consumer equipment division.

The Moline-based company says it will close plants in Williamsburg, Virginia and Jeffersonville, Indiana by Oct. 31, and will reduce production at its plant in Horicon, Wisconsin.

The company says employment at the Horicon plant will be reduced through a special retirement incentive, and about 100 jobs there will be transferred to a plant in North Carolina.
