Another effort by the Coronado Haskell neighborhood to keep their streets clean, and this rally included a very big visual. The City of Rockford donated the street sweeper for tonight's "Sweep It To Keep IT" march. This was a slightly different route than the previous neighborhood marches. The route included areas that need the most improvement.
"We're taking back our streets. We're going to keep them clean and neat and sweep our neighborhood of crime, and we support and report down with dope up with hope", said Deborah Weaver a neighborhood advocate.
Rockford Police Chief Chet Epperson also participated in the rally calling the result a success."What we're seeing is great civic engagement out here in the neighborhood. The march this evening is trying to spring out again that it's o.k. to be in the neighborhood, said Epperson.
Epperson says there's been a 25 percent drop in crime in the Haskell Coronado Neighborhood since the marches started about a year ago.
