Starting Monday, Machesney Park will start spending new revenue from its recent sales tax hike.

The $7 million "Driving For A Better Machesney Park" reconstruction program will commence on Evans Avenue, Elkhorn Street and a nearby service road off 251 next week.

But! What residents are most excited about is something some Machesney Park roads have never seen: curbs and gutters!

Bob Johnson moved into a house on the corner of Elkhorn and Evans five years ago.

"You gotta park here on the sides and in the yards and everything. And when cars are coming down the street you gotta run into people's yards to get out of their way," he says.

Roads set for improvements:

Ramona Terrace and Storm Water Lift Stations
Old Harlem Road/New Trunk Storm Sewer/Leland Avenue/Winona Drive
Maple Avenue/Kingsley Drive Storm Sewer
Sommerville Street/Borodell Street/Grenville Street
