Four men break into a house, and pepper spray the dog. They steal nothing, and end up getting caught shortly after. Those are the black and white facts of this story, but it is the gray area that has people concerned.
The break-in happened at a house in the 600 block of North Chicago in Rockford. Neighbors say six years ago the house became a place for drug dealing and all night partying. After the houses owner was sent to jail for three years, the criminal activity moved just down the road.
The previous owner is now out of jail, and neighbors believe it is no coincidence that the house was broken into shortly after his release. Both the current residents of the house in question and many of their neighbors believe the suspects may have thought there were still drug operations going on at the location.
In an effort to stop criminal activity a neighborhood meeting will be held at Our Saviors Church Oct. 25 at 7 p.m.
