Senate Moves

Illinois Senate Democrats are using their newly-gained power to force Republicans out of the better offices at the state capitol. And the Republicans are crying, "foul."

Democrats, in control of the Senate after 10 years of Republican rule, say its their time to work out of offices that are nicer and newer than what they have now.

The cost of the swap hasn't been determined. But Republicans say the total price tag to rewire computer networks and telephone systems could top $500,000. They say the relocations are unnecessary at a time when Illinois is cash poor.

Democratic Senator Donne Trotter says the Republican complaints are unfounded. He calls them "sour grapes," noting the Republicans just don't want to move.
