A father on crutches was able to rescue one son, but could not get back inside for the other two. Firefighters managed to get them out and transported to Mercy Hospital in Janesville. Upon arrival, 7 year old Derek RJ Mattingly was pronounced dead and his 2 year old brother flown to a Milwaukee hospital. Firefighters don't know what sparked the blaze at the 2 unit apartment on North Palm Street. Neighbors were back on the scene surveying the damage this afternoon...one of them says he rushed over to help the father rescue his boys, but firefighters pushed him away.
