Just in time for Mothers Day, a new study comes out about the power of giving that shows the saying go big or go home doesn't always ring true. Researchers wanted to find out how a gift could change someones impression of us, to see what image is formed of a person who gives flowers compared to something more luxurious, like jewelry.

They found, people who do a small thing like a bouquet make a big impression and are seen as successful, happy, emotionally intelligent and even strong for this Mother's Day.

We spoke with a local florist who told us for a special arrangement Carnations and Lilies are fun but if we're looking to plant something Petunias and Geraniums are our best bet because they'll last all summer long.
