Seven women and five men have come to the conclusion that George Hansen is guilty of murder in the first degree. Little noise was made as the emotional verdict came down, but the silent sobs of the victim's family could be felt from across the courtroom.
The jury deliberated for roughly four hours. In the end deciding Hansen was indeed the one who beat Mary Ann Clibbery to death with a hammer. The defense had very little to say to the medial before the trial ended. With a guilty verdict in, assistant public defender Frank Perri said the defense would appeal and hope for another chance. Hansen’s sentencing is scheduled for October 13th. He is facing up to life in prison.
