Twenty-three-year-old Andrew Brown is far more than simply a crime statistic. He was a father, a brother, and to many, a friend.
A half dozen of Brown's buddies united as one for a special candlelight vigil. The ceremony was at Sabrooke Park, the same place where Brown was shot in a car chase. He passed away Monday at Swedish American Hospital.
Brown's pals, who called him Andy, say the 23-year-old was a hilarious guy who was doing good things and turning his life around for his five-year-old daughter Mackenzie. His buddies say Brown was tragically in the wrong place at the wrong time.
"To show him that we care, tell him they are the friends that he had. We do care. He's always going to be missed," friend Jessica Beck said.
The candlelight vigil comes on the same day Andrew Brown is laid to a rest at a private ceremony. Brown's friends say his family plans to have another vigil sometime later this week.
