Belvidere Residents Chime in About Proposed Boundary Changes

By  |

With two brand new schools on the horizon, Belvidere district leaders need a fresh game plan to handle the growth, and keep school boundaries consistent.

A 15-member committee has designed the proposed boundaries since August. As construction shows, District 100 will open a brand new elementary and high school by 2007. The new boundaries came from input from more than 1,100 parents, who said location was most important to them. Tuesday and Wednesday night, Belvidere residents will give their two cents in the first of two public hearings. Based on that, the boundary group can accept, tweak or throw out the plans altogether. However, the boundary group believes most parents will be pleased with the new maps.

Belvidere's school board should vote on the boundaries later this month.
