Monday, Mayor Larry Morrissey announced the city would take-in up to 200 people displaced by Katrina. The evacuees are expected to arrive sometime Tuesday. Right now they're still working out the details. As for "where" the evacuees will stay, that's being withheld to protect their privacy. The state will provide food, shelter, and other humanitarian aid until the Federal government can take over.
Monday’s announcement comes on the heels of Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich's pledge for the state to taken 10,000 evacuees.
