High School Requirements

Many kids who went back to school today may have to take some extra classes.

A new Illinois law requires high school students take more math, science and English classes to graduate.

Students will have to take four years of English instead of three; three years of math instead of two; two years of science instead of one; and to take two intensive writing courses.

The measure will be phased in over four years.
