A 15-year-old spent most his Sunday in surgery but by the end of the night Rockford police say he is recovering from an afternoon shooting.
Rockford police were on the scene of a shooting at around 2 p.m. Sunday. A 15-year-old boy was riding his motorcycle down 16th Avenue. Police say a car approached the boy, words were exchanged and a shot was fired. The boy was hit in the stomach.
Rockford police tell 23 News that the boy is out of surgery and recovering at Swedish American Hospital. There is no suspect description. Police say the shooting is gang related.
