People who do not have a tax filing requirement but who had at least $3,000 in income during 2007 from any combination of earned income, nontaxable combat pay, and certain benefits from Social Security, Railroad Retirement and Veterans Affairs must file a 2007 income tax return in order to receive a stimulus payment.

They could be eligible for a stimulus payment of $300 for single filers and $600 for married couples filing jointly plus the additional $300 for each qualifying child under age 17.

My ex-husband received a portion of his stimulus payment the rest is supposed to come to my children for back child support. Does anyone know when I will receive this money? Or has anyone received a stimulus check for back child support?

i agree with most of these people about it not stimulating the economy. Its not EXTRA money, its money the government borrowed from china now taxpayers pay it back. I am a single mom of 1, i have a good job, and am not on any asst. thru the state. This check still didnt "help" me. its not right that the non custodial parents dont get anything. I received 300 from my X and gave him 150. he does have another family to support. yes the check has to go thru the child support system first then you. public aid took money that they say they overpaid me too but i couldnt complain. they or i should say you (the taxpayers) helped me out so i paid it back! If you complain you get no where. the goevrnment sucks but dont blame me I didnt vote for Bush

I have a son who works to pay child support for 4, to include as much overtime as possible. He was behind in child support because the business he had worked for closed the doors; so now he's trying to catch up. He was hoping the stimulus check would help him a little. He hardly has any food to eat, doesn't qualify for any assistance, because the gov counts his gross monthly income. Whatever he has left after child support goes for rent, gas, utilities and what little food he can afford; sometimes with my help; and the stimulus check is considered a tax refund. On top of the mother getting $600 plus, depending on the number of kids, the mother also gets his stimulus check. Don't think that's fair, at least the father should have gotten half of the stimulus check. How can the economy be stimulated only for a few. Some mothers are getting government help, food stamp, housing, tax refunds, including the stimulus checks. Non custodial parents male or female, they have to eat/live too!!!

Why do people need free money before they donate to charites. Maybe if people stopped smoking or buying lottery tickets or car pooled with friends they would have more money in there pockets. And for the people complaining about not getting money becuase they owe the government from backed taxes or student loans, you are the ones that are making it hard for me a college student to get loans to better myself. I am very lucky to have a great paying job on the weekends so I can save money when im away at school. And have great credit, not to many American can say that becuase they are in a house that they should not be they can not afford. That is why the economy is the dump, thank you banks and morgage loaners giving people loans for homes they have no reason having. Thank you congress for putting 600 free dollars into my saving account. Shame on you congress for putting us a few billion more dollars indebt to CHINA. God Bless America

I don't agree with people on SSI not able to receive a Stimulus payment check. That is Social Security Benefits. I don't see why we can't get one

I wish people would stop complaining. In my eyes it is free money. The governement is never going to make everyone happy so we might as well take what we can get. As far as owing money to the government, yeah you have to pay it back and they will take it however they can. Do you actually expect a break from the government.........oh that's how you get by, living off of the government. Get a job and support yourself and maybe you would see it the way I do. I have children and I work so I don't have to depend on the state to feed and shelter my child. Is it our fault you got pregnant early, have no education, or no support. Maybe who you should be talking to is your parents if they are around.

I have custody of my 2 boys. My X claims then on his taxes. My X got the extra 300.00 for each boy. He kept the money and took his wife on vacation. This is wrong.

Unless I missed something, stimulus checks are not being sent to "help people" they are being sent so that people will SPEND them and STIMULATE the economy. I think it's a misguided idea but that's our president and congress. As for money taken back because of school loans? Perhaps you misunderstood "LOANS"? Remember everyone, everytime you talk about "the government" giving you money, paying your bills, you are talking about ALL OF US who pay taxes. The government is US! There's no magical pile of money somewhere. The money our government has- we gave to them. We should put our efforts into getting our political leaders to raise minimum wage, and get industry back into the US so there are more jobs. These rebate checks will not change anyone's life - good jobs and decent pay will.

Illinois Public Aid took $5548.00 in back childsupport from me. I wasn't a mom who collected welfare checks, I did have the medical and food assistance. Their excuse for keeping the kids back child support, was, "I owed it to them", they couldn't prove when or what, how or who, nothing, they simply kept it. My kids didn't get not one dime from the back child support their father paid them. I did, go to those people for financial help, a couple years ago, form June to August,(2004,) they told me I had to earn the money, I had to "work" I felt good about that, but then they told me I owed them for the financial help they gave me, get this, they said I owed the $41.000, I have the paper to prove it. They made me "work" for the assistance, and then turned around and took it, and then some

Check the website and look according to the last 2 of your ssn.

I am not getting a stimulus rebate. I got married in September of 2007, before the marriage I lived with my mom while she put me through college and did everything for me. I did work part time and filed my taxes jointly with my husband, he works full time, has a son who we have every other day and he also pays child support for but did not claim him. Now since my mom claimed me which is correct( I am not complaining about that) my husband or I will get nothing. That doesn't seem right to me, he wasn't claimed just me. I guess I'm just bummed out but not all that surprised since thats the way things usually go. It's hard to catch a break! Another thing everytime minimum wage goes up here in Ohio the price of everything else goes up it's just a circle that isn't helping anything. I just wanted to complain outloud for once instead of just thinking it!

if i already got my tax rebate, will i be recieving a stimulus rebate?

Posted by: Leslie Location: Michigan on May 13, 2008 at 01:58 PM
The stimulus is a nice "thought". A real stimulus would have paid everyones Standard Living expenses for a month. I feel terrible for those whos SS# is high, they won't see their check until the end of July. How is that a stimulus to those people. I know the only thing its going to help me do and that is pay for my gas to go to work and food for my children. I am tired of people saying that gas is high because demand is high, NO demand is still the same because we all have to WORK! This stimulus was given at a time that is just going to fund those pockets more than they already have. Its unjust and gruel what they are putting American Families through. No I cannot walk to work or ride a bike, unfortuantely I live too far away. NO I cannot get a new job because there is not any jobs here. Things would not be bad if WAGES rose to match the cost of living. Wake up Congress. You need to do something now, before its our own backyard we will start to fear. People are going to get desperate.

Yeah, I am donating mine to charity....MYSELF

Posted by: Christy Location: Lake Havasu City on May 12, 2008 at 02:09 AM
I feel the stimulus checks are done all wrong. I'm a single mother of one who gets no child support. I only get 300 for me and 300 for my son, but a married couple who's income would be more recieve more money. Plus they want to take it out if people owe taxes or student loans. Wasnt this supposed to help us? Not be a way to take away from us. Yeah some might think why complain it's free money, but some of us feel we earned it, and yet felt like we are being done wrong.

In 2007 we received only benefits from Social Security and file a 2007 income tax return in order to received a stimulus payment. When we will receive our check? My SS end 05

I am wondering how they will do mine. I got a divorce last aug and changed my name back to maiden, changed cking acct and everything. The x hasn't filed yet-he has to pay in. I filed head of household this yr and claimed my 3 grandchildren which I have done for 15 yrs. Is there anyone that can tell me how will they pay me? I had my refund put on the mastercard they offer. Thanks for any help Barb

The White House and the Democrats were responsible for those stimulus checks. If the previous writer calls them "a gimmick" perhaps he/she should donate their check to charity.

Posted by: Don Location: Winnebago on Apr 28, 2008 at 06:34 PM
The economic stimulus checks are just a joke as far as stimulating the economy and my tax preparer agrees with me. i will be getting only $300 and my monthly automobile gas bill is usually about $230 per month. It is just a public relations gimmick by the White House. i cannot buy any consumer goods on the check I will be getting.
