Hurricane Rita is making an eerily similar approach to the gulf as Hurricane Katrina, as are eerily similar price hikes are expected at Stateline gas stations.

Prices remained steady this afternoon at $2.57 a gallon.

However, Rita’s emergence into the Gulf of Mexico and all of its refineries potentially on its course has area oil suppliers nervous.

Judd Daniels, owner of J & D Oil in Belvidere says his superiors are predicting a price surge to about $2.75 or $2.80 a gallon by Wednesday. However, Daniels doesn't believe the prices will approach $3.30 a gallon as they did after Hurricane Katrina.

Many drivers weren't taking any chances this afternoon, proving time is money, or at least, saves money.
