Machesney Park’s Public Works committee asked residents Monday night to give their suggestions on what to do with all the leftover branches and trees in the village.
Board trustees suggested lifting the burning ban, while some residents asked the village to pay for a tree removal service. Another suggestion is to establish a drop off point. But many residents are worried they won't find the means to haul large trees and logs out of their yard, let alone across town.
In the end the committee voted to immediately suspend the burning ban and instruct the full board to develop a drop off point for trees. This motion was not well received by people who had fully grown fallen trees in their yards.
