Billions of dollars are needed for hurricane victims. So, you may think that one person can’t make a difference. Well, think again!
As the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina unfolded, Micki Whitacre wanted to contribute, and contribute she did. With the help of Wal-Mart, R.L. Leak trucking and many other businesses and individual volunteers, she is collecting money and non-perishable items for victims of hurricane Katrina.
A semi trailer is being stacked full of food and water at the Owen Center Wal-Mart on Riverside. Micki says she has been absolutely amazed that people have walked out of Wal-Mart with shopping carts full of food for the hurricane victims.
