Or donations may be sent to The Salvation Army of Winnebago County earmarked "Disaster Relief" at P.O. Box 4159, Rockford, Il 61110. A $100 donation will feed a family of four for two days, provide two cases of drinking water, and one household clean-up kit.
When you make a donation, the Salvation Army asks you to single out your donation for the hurricane victims.

Byron School District:
The Byron High School Student Council and Key Club are spearheading district-wide efforts to raise money to assist the victims of Hurricane Katrina in the nation?s Gulf Coast. The effort began Tuesday with students manning tables to accept financial donations for hurricane relief. Anyone who would like to donate to the relief cause can take checks, made payable to the Byron School District, to one of the four principal?s offices in the district. Once the fundraising effort is complete, the district will write a check for the full amount to a relief agency chosen by the Student Council-Key Club coalition. Arrangements for a food and clothing drive will be announced later.
<Katrina's Homeless Pets to Get Help:
Pampered Pet Grooming is raising money for the animals who survived but are suffering due to Hurricane Katrina. Funds will go to the Humane Society of the U.S. Donations may be dropped off at Pampered Pets at 1423 N. Main St. from 9 to 3 M-F.
Rockford Bell Credit Union:
Donations accepted through September. Donations for the Red Cross and Winn. County Animal Services. Plus school supplies for "Kids for Katrina" to be accepted.
Winnebago County Clerk's Office:
Office at 404 Elm St. accepting kids' clothing, school supplies, bedding, socks, shoes; baby supplies; adults clothing, feminine supplies, towels, bedding, small appliances.

Postal Shoppe Offers Discounts to Families Shipping to Gulf Coast
The program will provide help to family members who have experienced the direct impact of Hurricane Katrina. The program, developed by Larry and Patty Hinkle of the Postal Shoppe, will provide shipping assistance and a 50 percent discount to those wishing to ship clothes, food and other items to family members in Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. Heartland Community Church needs volunteers to fold and sort clothes so when it arrives in Waveland, it can go immediately into the hands of those who need it.

Rockford Public Schools are taking on a charitable cause. The district is adopting three schools that were impacted by hurricane Katrina in southeast Mississippi.
