From now on we can be fined for not throwing away a pop can or a bag of chips. No longer is the community to be used as our dumpster. The definition of trash is vast and pretty much covers everything. The rule prohibits people from littering on public and private property. It also forbids us from throwing garbage out of a motor vehicle. First time violators may face a $100 penalty. And people who are caught more than once can be slapped with $700 in fines and up to 50 hours of community service. The Rockford Police department will be out enforcing this new ordinance.
