Gas Pump Price Jump

The governor says the state absolutely should do something to
help consumers deal with skyrocketing gasoline prices. Gas prices hit record highs this week, with the average statewide price jumping to two dollars and 46 cents a gallon. That's almost 60 cents higher than prices from a year ago, amid a steep climb in crude oil prices.

Blagojevich says the state is looking at building on some of the
things he did last year, which included an executive order
requiring the state to keep tabs on prices and encouraging state
employees to conserve fuel. But the governor says he doesn't want to overpromise help and won't discuss more specifics until his administration determines whether relief is feasible.
