The lack of rain has caused problems for just about everyone. From farmers and gardeners to someone who simply wants a healthy looking lawn.
The Stateline has experienced the third driest spring on record and now has about half as much rain as average for early summer. That has caused a severe drought for much of the area. In many areas water usage restrictions will continue as long as abnormally dry conditions are present. This weekend is an especially dangerous times as the use of campfires and fireworks can easily set nearby vegetation on fire.
The entire state of Illinois is around seven or eight inches of rain below where we would like to be. It would take several major rains to turn things around.
