Former Director Reverend Perry Pitney died Friday night when he lost control of the car and was ejected when it flipped over. This all took place at Kishwaukee and Beltline Road.
Pitney took over as the Executive Director of the Rockford Rescue Mission in 1987. He was the man behind Hope Place. That was a homeless shelter that doubled as a place for people to make positive changes in their lives.
The visitation will be held Tuesday June 21, at Hope Place located at 715 West State Street. The public is allowed to stop by from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The memorial service will take place the day after at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday June 22.
