An average summer day at a Belvidere pool was disrupted when a teenager started drowning. It happened on Tuesday at Belvidere Park.
The park district says a 17-year-old swim team member lost consciousness while performing an exercise. Lifeguards sprung to action, reviving the swimmer with rescue breathing.
The teenager was taken to a local hospital and later released. Swim lessons are postponed at Belvidere Park until Thursday.
