Illinois Unemployment Rate Dips to 5.8 Percent

The state Department of Employment Security says 4,500 non-farm jobs were added in Illinois in May, and the department says its the first time since 1997 that the state's job-growth rate has surpassed the national rate for three straight months.

Employment Security Director Brenda Russell calls the job growth "unprecedented" in recent years.
