Sunday will be "Danica Patrick Day" in Illinois thanks to a proclamation by Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
The 23-year-old driver from Roscoe placed fourth in last week's Indianapolis 500, the highest placing ever for a woman in the race's 89-year history. She also became the first woman to ever lead a lap in the Indy 500.
Blagojevich says "Danica Patrick Day" is meant to recognize her success. He calls her a "hero" and says she has a bright future in sports car racing.
