What happened Thursday night is irreversible. A family’s life has been changed forever, and one of the drivers responsible for taking away two lives is still no where to be found.
Antonio Virgilio and her eight-year-old grandson, Rodrigo Virgilio, were killed in the crash. It happened at the intersection of Huffman Blvd. and Riverside.
The Virgilios were in a van with six others. They were turning left off riverside onto Huffman Blvd. when out of nowhere came two cars heading west on Riverside. Police say the cars were side-by side and speeding. One of the cars broad sided the van.
The driver of one of the cars, 27-year-old Kevin Marchini, is charged with two counts of reckless homicide and three counts of aggravated driving under the influence.
Police are still looking for the driver of the other car. The vehicle has been described as a red 1997 to 2001 Pontiac Trans Am. The Trans Am has a low stream line type spoiler.
If anyone spots this red Pontiac Trans Am, you are asked to call the Rockford Police Department to report the car's location.
