Rockford Park District's Future

Although it will be some time before a decision is made about a referendum hitting the ballot, those attending the meeting were able to ask questions and get feedback.

Many community members came out to discuss the park district's list of priorities, which include, safety and security, maintaining existing parks and facilities, youth and family programs, neighborhood parks and services, and community projects. The group of priorities are the focus of several meetings being put on by the park district. It's their hope that the community come out and voice their opinions. Because basically, you own the parks!

"We had a nice crowd. And they certainly asked some great questions that we were able to answer. We hope that continues as we try to chart the Park District's next ten years,” says Rockford Park District Board President Laura Williamson.

If you were unable to attend Tuesday’s meeting there is another one scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at Rockford’s Northwest Community Center.

At the meeting you will be given a citizen advisory ballot to cast your vote on where the Rockford Park District's priorities should be.
