Jerry Hobbs was in shackles Wednesday morning when he appeared at a bond hearing on first-degree murder charges in the deaths Laura Hobbs and nine-year-old Krystal Tobias. A judge ordered him held without bail.
Prosecutors say Hobbs gave a videotaped statement in which he admitted hitting his daughter because he ordered her to go home and she refused. They say he contends his daughter's friend came to her defense and that's when he hit her and then stabbed them both.
The girls' bodies were found Monday in a wooded park.
Investigators say Laura Hobbs had been stabbed 20 times, including wounds to the neck and eyes.
