2002 Christmas Seal Unveiled

The 2002 Christmas seal for the American Lung Association of Illinois and Iowa was unveiled at Jackson school in Rockford today.

Rockford Mayor Doug Scott along with Christmas Seal Chairmen Bun E. Carlos and Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick were on hand to do the honors. The theme of this year's seal states the mission of the lung association: fight big tobacco, bad air and the asthma epidemic. The story of the Christmas seals began in 1907, when the first seals were printed and sold for a penny a piece to raise money to fight tuberculosis.
