Attorney General Jim Ryan says he wants to review property purchases made by the administration of outgoing Gov. George Ryan.
Jim Ryan sent a letter to the governor's chief legal counsel saying he would conduct a review of all such purchases of more than $1 million.
Gov. Ryan's administration, which is out of office in January, is moving forward on the purchase of at least four properties at a cost of more than $50 million.
Some of the proposed purchases could benefit friends of Gov. Ryan.
A spokesman for Jim Ryan says it appears unusual to have such major purchases in the waning days of an administration.
State officials say political considerations had nothing to do with the decision to purchase the buildings.
