The Madison utility says its core domestic utility business remains strong.
The Madison-based utility says net income is $2.4 million, or two cents per share, during the quarter. That compares with $34 million, or 31 cents a year, in the same period a year earlier.
Alliant CEO Erroll Davis says valuation charges related to operations in China and the utility's continued effort to reduce debt in its non-regulated business caused quarterly earnings to decrease.
Alliant serves several thousand customers in northern Winnebago County.
