After Textron recently delayed its official closing date, talks are now opening up on the possibility of Textron employees staying on with a new company.
This week, members of the United Auto Workers Local 592 and plant staff met at Textron's Samuelson Road site to talk about a potential buyer.
A Textron employee tells 23 News that EHR Enterprises, a Rockford machining company, is in talks to purchase Textron. The employee says EHR management has been on site in discussions with Textron management.
The company is believed to be interested in holding on to the plant's 300-plus workers. EHR declined comment when reached Wednesday afternoon. UAW Local 592 leadership was also unavailable for comment.
Textron has already pushed back its closing twice in 2005. The plant remains open while any possible company purchase negotiations continue.
