The possibility of a Wal-Mart moving into Boone County has some community members upset and speaking out against the plan.
One local business owner says its like David going up against Goliath.
Tony Dal Pra says he supports bringing more businesses and competition to Belvidere, but not if it's at the expense of the entire community.
Dal Pra says Wal-Mart is not right for a small town like Belvidere. The developer wants the Belvidere City Council to approve a store for 87 acres just off U.S. 20 and Genoa Road. Those who support the plan say the nation's largest retailer would bring new jobs as well as hundreds of thousands of dollars in sales tax revenue to the city. But Dal Pra says the pros don't outweigh the cons.
Dal Pra has set up another informational meeting that will take place Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 4:30 p.m. That will be at Backstop Bar and Grill in Belvidere.
Belvidere City Council is awaiting a final proposal from the development company.
Several details still need to be ironed out before the council would be prepared to vote.
