A peaceful afternoon is shattered by the discovery of a body in the Spring Lake Marina in Rochelle. Police and crime scene investigators are still searching for clues.
The body has been identified as a 26-year-old Rochelle man.
Police responded to the call around 12:30 Friday afternoon. The body was in the water near the docks.
The Ogle County coroner’s office was notified, along with the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigators. Both were on the scene as well.
As of Saturday, there was no trauma found on the body and the cause of death was determined to be a drowning. Just how long the man was in the water before he was found is still not known. The Rochelle Police Department is also waiting for fingerprint comparisons to confirm the victim's identity.
