Bishops Approve Revised Sexual Abuse Policy

U.S. Catholic Bishops have approved a revised version of the Dallas Sexual Abuse Policy.

The new policy says that any priest guilty of sexual abuse will be removed from public church services, including mass and working in Catholic schools. Priests must also remove the roman collar from their vestments.

Accused priests do have recourse. They can challenge the charges and appear before a tribunal of clerics and appeal to the Vatican. But, Rockford Bishop Thomas Doran says any priest found guilty of abuse will be removed. The Vatican must now approve the sex abuse policy
