Polling places in Rockford will soon be open, but Rockford's three mayoral candidates are showing no signs of slowing down.

It's the race to the finish line, and all three Rockford mayoral candidates are in a full sprint.

Monday begins at WROK. Incumbent Rockford Mayor Doug Scott, independent Larry Morrissey and Republican Gloria Cardenas Cudia square off in their final debate, but the politicking doesn't stop there.

Cudia hits the campaign trail ringing doorbells, and she says hopefully opening the door to more votes.

"At every age level, the response has been tremendous. We traveled to a few churches yesterday and it was great as well. We're really bearing down and we're ready to win," says Cudia.

Morrissey also has winning on his menu. As he talks to voters at Mary's Market, he explains why he has the right priorities and the right approach to lead our city.

"We need to improve our schools. We need to improve public safety and we need to make the right investments," says Morrissey.

Scott, however, juggles being mayor with running for mayor. With city business on his hands, there won't be many campaign stops Monday, but his supporters will be lobbying for him, reiterating why Scott believes he should remain in office.

"The hiring outlook is the best that it's been in six years, and the unemployment rate has been down for 14 straight months," says Scott.

The countdown is on and the momentum will continue through Tuesday. Each candidate is looking for his or her efforts to translate into votes.
