Eight hundred and fifty thousand dollars in funding is being given to the Rockford Airport to expand parking.

The Illinois Department of Transportation is providing the money which well help ease the growth the airport has experienced over the last few months with added flights and destinations.

In the first 12 months of air passenger service, the airports served 100,000 passengers.

In the next 12 months, airport Executive Director Bob O'Brien estimates the airport will serve 250,000 passengers.
