Luckily packaged goods were the only items tattered and torn when two trains collided last night in Rochelle.
A Union Pacific maintenance train and a Burlington Northern Intermodle cargo train met head on with each other. Dry goods fell out on the tracks leaving quite a mess to clean up. The engineer of the union pacific train was taken to the hospital because he was shaken up but no physical injuries. The initial reports from the scene indicate that one of the two trains did not obey the track lights. But investigators say it could take weeks to determine who’s at fault.
