ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- We're learning more about a potential threat against Rockford Mayor Larry Morrissey.

Winnebago County State's Attorney Joe Bruscato says it all started with an anonymous call to the 9-1-1 center. A follow up investigation by Rockford Police has allowed them to arrest James Pauley. Bruscato says he was arrested on charges of drug possession with an intent to deliver.

Right now police are investigating the anonymous caller for more information. For the past week Mayor Morrissey has had a security detail of two Rockford Police Officers. At this time we do not know what kind of threat has been made against the mayor.

From the Rockford Police Department:

ROCKFORD (RPD) -- Rockford Police Chief Chet Epperson today confirmed that they have responded to a report of a threat against a public official.

“Threats against any individual are taken very seriously and the Rockford Police Department will investigate and respond appropriately,” the Chief stated.

While the concern over the immediate report involving the public official has been resolved, due to the on-going nature of the investigation, the City of Rockford will not be releasing any additional information at this time.
