CHICAGO (AP) -- Snowy New Year's Day weather is complicating holiday travel on the roads and at Chicago's two airports.
The National Weather Service has issued snow and blowing snow advisories Tuesday afternoon for north and central Illinois with wind gusts of up to 35 miles per hour.
Meteorologist Chris Gitro says northern Chicago can expect up to an inch of snow and wind gusts will continue through the evening.
O'Hare International Airport is reporting 145 canceled flights and delays of around 45 minutes. Across town at Midway, there are no cancellations, but delays of up to 30 minutes are reported.
Chicago Department of Aviation spokeswoman Karen Pride says the snow and wind is causing the problems.
The city has deployed 273 snow fighting trucks to clear Chicago's streets.
