The Harlem School District looks deeper at a proposed list of cuts.
This past Monday, Superintendent Dr. Pat DeLuca presented the board with about $550,000 in suggested cuts. On Saturday, board members got a little more information behind Dr. DeLuca's reasoning.
Those cuts do not include any elimination of full-time teacher or coaching positions. Despite proposing cuts in building and department budgets for the second straight year, the superintendent is bringing back educational programs. In the budget the Builders Club, a community service program for middle school students would return.
This Tuesday, the public will vote for the sixth time on a referendum. DeLuca says if passed there would be fewer reductions over the next four years.
