Man Charged with Driving into TV Studio in Court Today

Gerald Richardson of Evanston is charged with felony damage to property. He was also cited for reckless driving and having no proof of insurance.

Police say they're not sure why Richardson struck the studio, but ABC officials say the incident may be deliberate. Officials say more about his possible motive will be released during today's court appearance.

During the 10 p.m. newscast Sunday, a crash was heard on the air, startling WLS-TV's weekend anchor Ravi Baichwal.

He shouted "Ho!" as the Mazda MPV with Indiana license plates plowed into the studio's reinforced glass wall. Nobody was injured.
