Delay in Gaming Board Appointments Holds Up Projects

Since August, the three vacancies have prevented the remaining two members of the Illinois Gaming Board from moving forward on several issues because they lack a quorum.

That means casinos in East St. Louis, Metropolis and Rock Island are waiting to begin multi-million dollar expansion projects. Plans to build a casino in Rosemont are on hold and several casino license renewals have been delayed.

Blagojevich spokeswoman Cheryle Jackson says it's been hard to find qualified candidates willing to serve. She says they're looking for board members who will make the right decisions for the people of Illinois.
