Multiple families are not staying in what they knew to be their “Home, Sweet Home.”
Saturday night several surrounding community fire departments were called to the 1900 block of Colony Court in Beloit. Beloit Fire Department says the fire started in the basement near storage units, traveled through the pipes and got to the first and second floors.
One firefighter did injure his back but nobody else was seriously injured. The apartment complex has 10-units. With heavy smoke and fire damage throughout the whole structure about 30 people are living in temporary housing provided by the Red Cross.
Damage is estimated at $250,000.
