Tests reveal the infant had cocaine in her system. She also tested positive for Hepatitis B.
The girl was found dead last December 17 on the side of Will Road. The coroner's office ruled she died of hypothermia from the cold environment. She was called Crystal Doe because of her discovery on a crystal, clear, cold night.
As for the unknown mother, the coroner, Sue Fiduccia, says she was using coke at the time of birth and she too has Hepatitis B. That is usually spread through injecting with needles and that could mean the mother may not be the only one with Hepatitis B, putting the health of others at risk.
Once again, if you have any information on baby Crystal's mother, please call Winnebago County Crimestoppers.
