Former Gov. Thompson Is OK After Emergency Surgery

A hospital spokesman said Thompson was listed in good condition Monday at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

The 68-year-old former governor had an emergency craniotomy on Saturday after checking into the emergency room Friday evening.

The hospital says it's unclear if Thompson will be released this week.

The Republican Thompson was governor from 1977 to 1991. He recently served on the federal commission that investigated the September 11th terrorist attacks.
