Early Saturday morning a fire broke out at 722 South State Street in Belvidere. No one was injured.
This was a two-story structure that housed four family apartments. Now it's considered to be a total loss. After six hours of investigating police determined that someone had to be charged with arson.
Nineteen-year-old Thomas Freeman of Belvidere is behind bars. Investigators say freeman left the apartment just before the fire was discovered. Freeman is charged with aggravated arson which is a Class "X" felony.
