Wal-Mart managers are on the hunt for 500 employees. They'll work at the new store being built on Rockford's west side. More than 2,500 people applied Monday. Wal-Mart is hiring for a variety of store positions.
This week's job fair is the preliminary interviewing process. The new hires will start work inside the store in early March to prepare for the Riverside Wal-Mart's opening in mid-April.
The job fair will continue Wednesday at North Towne Mall from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Hiring for the new Super Wal-Mart store on East State Street in Rockford will begin in early March. There will be 150 open positions for that store.
