Stateline holiday travelers hitting the roads should prepare to slow down. More police are ready to give you an early present of a speeding ticket.
Between November 22 and December 6 the Illinois State Police will be out in full force ramping up enforcement for violations ranging from speeding tickets to DUIs
Though police say the emphasis will be on Winnebago County, added officers will be in place on county highways and interstates.
Police will also set up more roadblocks in hopes of cutting down on drunk drivers and increasing safety on the roads.
Illinois State Police say so far this year, the four-county District 16 is down 24 percent in fatal accidents than at this point in 2003.
